Studio Information

I have room in my teaching studio for more viola and violin students. I teach all ages and all levels. I teach using scales, etudes/studies, collections of music, and individual pieces. In addition playing technique, I can help you with reading music, basics of music theory, music appreciation. As of January 2008, my rates are $25 for a half hour, $40 for 45 minutes, and $50 for an hour. Lesson times are approximate. Ask about my special for grade school beginners. I also coach Chamber Music groups (rate TBD) Lessons are available in UTC, La Jolla Colony, and Mira Mesa/Sorrento Valley (near I-805 and Mira Mesa Blvd.). I am interested in other locations if there is sufficient interest. My Background: Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music Summer Music Festivals: Interlochen, Aspen, Blue Hill, and the Grand Tetons Violist with the San Diego Symphony since 1988 Viola and Violin Teacher with over 20 years experience I have coached youth orchestras and school orchestras, and also led viola sectionals and string sectionals. I have conducted youth orchestras and amateur orchestras. As a professional symphony musician I perform classical, ballet, opera, and pops music. With the San Diego Symphony, I have made classical and pops CDs. I have also done professional studio work. I grew up in St. Louis and initially studied with members of the St. Louis Symphony. I have also studied Alexander Technique for 10 years and teach healthy, relaxed, pain-free playing. References are available upon request.
