Born in Boulder, Colorado, Shaundra is the daughter of renowned pianist Melinda Baird. Shaundra has been exposed to a large repertoire of music and has engaged in serious study from a young age. Over the last sixteen years, she has had the opportunity to study with notable violinists such as Alex Karr, Igor and Vesna Gruppman, Monte Belknap, and Elizabeth Adkins. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from Brigham Young University. During her time at BYU, Shaundra performed as a first violinist in the BYU Philharmonic and toured with BYU’s Chamber Orchestra to the Eastern United States.
Shaundra is also an experienced violin teacher. In addition to teaching privately, she was a guest faculty member at the Juarez Academy in Mexico where she assisted in the design of the string program and coached ensembles. She has studied methods to improve the quality of violin instruction and participated in the development of The Violin Practice System and The Violin Site (www.theviolinsite.com).
