Studio Information

Robert Raymond has been teaching violin since the age of 12 in a Suzuki studio outside Washington, DC.

After 4 years in Rochester, NY obtaining a BM in Violin Performance at the Eastman School of Music studying with internationally acclaimed soloist and teacher Charles Castleman, and violist of the Ying quartet Philip Ying, he relocated to Evanston, IL where, in the middle of his final year of a Master\'s in Violin Performance at Northwestern University as a student of Almita Vamos, he has opened a new violin and viola studio.

His teaching of beginning students is based around the Suzuki violin method books, and he incorporates elements of the Suzuki philosophy in his teaching--emphasizing the positive elements to be found in every student and developing the ear to its fullest possible extent, by teaching solfege and basic theory in addition to required listening assignments. It is his philosophy that great artistry is realized through the development of a refined and unique voice within each student.

Lessons are available at the following rates:

$25/30 minutes
$40/45 minutes
$50/60 minutes

30 minute lessons are for the very youngest students who are just starting out. By the time students reach the second Suzuki book I insist on longer lessons due to the increasing depth and complexity of material.

For an additional fee to cover my expenses, I will travel to your home.
