About me:
I have been playing violin for 15 years. I have performed at business banquets, various religious ceremonies, especially weddings, both in a chamber ensemble and as a soloist. I have won over 20 Division 1 ratings for my solo and chamber performances at the Solo & Ensemble Festival in Michigan for 7th-12th graders. I also competed in competitions at Eastern Michigan University during college, and was awarded scholarships.
I have been teaching since 2002, and 3.5 years formal group teaching experience -- 1.5 of which at the collegiate level. I hold Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Violin Performance from Eastern Michigan University, where I was concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra my senior year. I studied violin in college with Daniel Foster (retired concertmaster of the Macomb Symphony, founder of the Red Hot Lava Festival in Hawaii) and Gabe Bolkosky (recordings on iTunes, founder of the Phoenix Fest in Ann Arbor, Professor of Violin at the University of Michigan). I also studied viola while attending college with Detroit Symphony Orchestra violist, Eva Stern.
My Method:
I frequently use the String Explorer series for beginners; Fiddler's Philharmonic for those interested; Suzuki books 1-10; Schradieck, Mazas, Sevcik, and Kreutzer etudes; Unaccompanied Bach Sonatas and Partitas; as well as repertoire frequently requested on college and orchestral auditions. I'm very proud to note that 3 of my students have already gone on to college as music majors.
