Studio Information

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Makiko Taguchi began extensive study of music at her young age. After receiving her bachelor degree in violin performance and graduating from To-Ho Gakuen school of Music with the highest honor in violin class in March 89', Makiko moved on to the U.S. and continued her study in San Francisco Conservatory of Music. There she received her masters degree in violin performance in May 92'. She also received Premiere-Prix award from Pierre Lantier International Music Competition in Paris, France in the same year.

Makiko currently resides in Silver Spring, MD with her husband and four children. She recently performed with Alexandria Symphony Orchestra.
Makiko has been teaching for over 10 years and had also studied at Suzuki teacher workshop in 2006. She uses both Suzuki and traditional teaching methods.

The rate for the studio:$30 for 30 minutes lesson
$44 for 45 minutes lesson
$58 for 60 minutes lesson

This year, I am planning the students' recitals in June and December.

Besides lesson fee, I would like to ask for gas money between $5 to $10 depending on mileage, in order to come to student's home.
Upon request, I am also available to teach biweekly lessons.

I love to interact with young children or older student. In my teaching, I work on basic/advanced violin/viola playing techniques together with music theory training such as reading notes, counting and also ear training by singing if possible. I combine both Suzuki approach and traditional methodology in my teaching. I love to keep teaching throughout the year. I am also available in summer break, winter and spring breaks. Besides violin and viola, I am available to teach piano upon request, for beginner and intermediate level. I enjoy both teaching and performing. In my view point, both are essentially the same. In either way, it is about sharing the joy of music with others. I look forward to meeting you!
Please feel free to contact me for a free trial lesson/interview.
