Studio Information

My name is Jacob Mossburg. I have studied the violin since I was five years old. Starting with Suzuki till around the age of 10. I then studied under other teachers including Crystal Steele (Assistent concertmaster of the ISO), three members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic (Olga Yurkova, John Gerson, and Derek Reeves), and Professor Adelle Maxfeild (Taylor University, also MPO). During high school, I was selected as a member of the ISO Side-By-Side program two years in a row, I was Principal Second of the National Honors Orchestra and also a member of the New World Youth Symphony Orchestra, and won the New World Philharmonic Concerto Competition and was a soloist with the orchestra at Hilbert Circle Theatre. Currently I am a member of the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra. Addition to all of that, I was involved with a quartet (all violins), that has performed over 2000 concerts throughout the states and for many famous people.

I am mostly trained in the Suzuki method style of playing, and, for younger students, it will be the basis of their training. Of course, scales, etudes, and additional pieces will be chosen accordingly to the technical stage the student is at. Beginner and intermediate students will benefit from lessons.

Addition to teaching violin lessons, I am also available for chamber coaching’s, and to playing in Weddings.

My fares for lessons are quite reasonable. I charge $15 for half hour lessons and $30 for an hour. Typically I throw in a discount for the younger children who will choose to practice a bit moreJ
