Denver Suzuki Strings is proud to present their unique and impressive violin program. Through the nurturing spirit of their parents and impeccably high standards of our instructors, DSS produces highly proficient and well-rounded musicians. Students begin their study as young as 2½ and learn to connect with music through listening and repetition. The Suzuki Method fosters the philosophy that all people can learn to play the violin, just as they learned to speak. Commonly referred to as the "Mother Tongue" method, techniques used produce spectacular results! The learning is a natural fit for young children as they soak up the nuances of classical music and master technique with ease.
Part of what makes DSS an outstanding program is that as the students progress through the Suzuki Method repertoire they are also introduced to the art of Fiddling. Just as the standards for mastering the Suzuki Method are high so to are the rigors of competition level fiddling. Intricate bowing techniques and left hand mastery of fingerings needed for this highly demanding style of music has proven to raise the bar for skill levels beyond those of students exposed primarily to classical studies.
DSS adheres strictly to the teaching points, and embraces the philosophies, of a full Suzuki program. The difference is the added points to cover the introduction and mastery of fiddling skills. Along with weekly private instruction, Suzuki group classes are provided to all students, as it is well known that this component is invaluable to the development and confidence building of each student. Fiddling group is also provided, which encourages students to take their performance skills to new heights! Audiences are often amazed at their talents as they wow them with their skill and syncronicity. The Denver Suzuki Strings and Fiddlocity, perform throughout the Denver metro area. They are frequently featured on local as well as national television programs. Many of the students from our program go on to become top placers in local and national competitions.
