Born in Boulder, Colorado to the renowned pianist Melinda Baird, Shaundra began extensive study of music at a young age. Over the past twenty years, she has had the opportunity to study with acclaimed violinists Alex Kerr, Igor Gruppmann, Elisabeth Adkins and Monte Belknap. She earned her degree in violin performance from Brigham Young University, where she performed and toured with the BYU Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras. She has also performed as part of various string ensembles and as an invited soloist.
Shaundra currently resides in Washington DC with her husband and three children. She performs with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, the McLean Orchestra, and the Celebrated String Quartet.
Shaundra is an experienced violin teacher and currently runs a private violin studio in Fairfax County, Virginia. In addition, she has been a visiting faculty member at the Juarez Academy in Mexico where she assisted in the design of the string program and coached a variety of ensembles. She has studied methods to improve the quality of violin instruction and participated in the development of The Violin Practice System online (www.theviolinsite.com).
